After a period when the tech giant Google almost abandoned smartwatches, there are now signs that it may launch a new model this year. Introduced in 2014, the Moto 360 was the first watch that Motorola introduced, coming with Google’s new operating system for wearables, Android Wear. Although initially considered to be quite useful, over the years the brands realized that the smartwatches did not have the expected acceptance, much derived from the short autonomy that they presented. With the lack of sales, several brands were withdrawing the bet on these devices, there was even rumour that the tech giant Google would discontinue its operating system. However, to the surprise of many, the American giant reshaped its system, changed the name to Wear OS, and re-launched something that was considered forgotten. To follow the news, there are now reports that a new smartwatch may be being developed. As this week was Google I/O, a conference dedicated to presenting the various news of the world of the American company, as is the case of Android P. During the 3 days of the event, the new Wear OS went unnoticed, not being one of the areas to be highlighted. However, the tech giant Google may even be preparing news, at least according to Evan Blass.
— Evan Blass (@evleaks) May 10, 2019 In a tweet on his Evleaks page, the famous Evan Blass shared the possibility that the tech giant Google is developing a new smartwatch to accompany the new Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. To follow this rumour, a well-known blog advanced that the tech giant Google would not be developing 1, but rather 3 wearables outfits, codenamed Ling, Triton and Sardine. These devices could be accompanied by the new Qualcomm chip that is ready to extend the range. With the tech giant Apple’s Smart Watch delivering good sales numbers, the tech giant Google will now want to present a competitor to match the power of Apple’s watch.
